( Details ) ISBN: 0064408655 Published: April 2001 | Published by Harper Collins From the Publisher Dear Reader, You have undoubtedly picked up this book by mistake, so please put it down. Nobody in their right mind would read this particular book about the lives of Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire on purpose, because each dismal moment of their stay in the village of V.F.D. has been faithfully and dreadfully recorded in these pages. I can think of no single reason why anyone would want to open a book containing such unpleasant matters as migrating crows, an angry mob, a newspaper headline, the arrest of innocent people, the Deluxe Cell, and some very strange hats. It is my solemn and sacred occupation to research each detail of the Baudelaire children’s lives and write them all down, but you may prefer to do some other solemn and sacred thing, such as reading another book instead. (baudelaire_orphanz@hotmail.com) Date: 2/4/2002 2:16:31 PM Snicket writes yet another hilarious tale of the exciting adventures of the Baudelaire orphans. The Vile Village out does J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter books. 2. Vile Village -Snicket Out Does Himself Reviewer: Steve Kaliel from Gibsons, BC (steve_kaliel@hotmail.ca) Date: 6/6/2001 12:36:35 AM Best Yet! I could not put it down. The whole plot becomes more complex while never confusing. The reader can only anticipate a small amount of what could come in the next versions. I beleive the author must have been having a wonderful time spinning this story! Through the series, the author identifies some society attitudes which are deliciously roasted, well done! While my 13 year old is a big fan, I, as an adult, am hooked on what is the true story about Beatrice and the Author and how they all will end up being part of the "whole story". Read all the series in order. Marvelous book. This is a series unto itself, not really any others that take the same tac. 3. The Best Book series ever Reviewer: Kelly Brown from Calgary/Alberta Date: 5/26/2001 4:34:17 PM I personly dont like reading but this series is amazing, it makes you feel that your life is really great. I would recomend for you to read this series! 4. The Vile Village Reviewer: Rob Dowell from Lethbridge, Alberta (Robbie_JDD@hotmail.com) Date: 5/24/2001 8:45:39 PM The Vile Village by Lemony Snicket is a well-written Young Adult novel. He has equipped the narrative part with a dry sense of humor throughout the whole series which makes the book more enjoyable through the description and narrating. The characters are described well, and the book has so many twists and turns that it leaves you figuring out the plot after you finish. His style of writing is so dry, it's almost as if the narrative has an english accent! The villain is always in a disguise that is easy to uncover, and the new "sidekick villain" is yet, unnoticeable. Overall, The Vile Village by Lemony Snicket is wonderfully written, and is a great addition to the books in the series A Series of Unfortunate Events. I look forward to reading #8. (He has promised thirteen books.) 5. not-so-good-book Reviewer: alfred from Waterloo (this_isnt_my_email@hotmail.com) Date: 5/20/2001 5:31:58 PM i think this book was one of the worst in the series and i think that the harry potter series is way betta!!!!
